Okay, back now. I think I will just turn you on to this "sports" article which was forwarded to me by a friend. It is the story of an Asian American and his battle to play NBA basketball and getting people to get rid of their stereotypes about Asian Americans and give him a chance.
As Dean Adachi, an historian and lecturer of Asian American studies says:
“Of course we’re far beyond the blatant discrimination that stopped players such as Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays from playing in the MLB, but there still is a similar psychological barrier that Lin is currently in the process of dismantling in front of our very eyes.”
I am including the comments that came with the article because in some ways they illustrate the racism faced by Jeremy Lin along the way.
The story itself comes from ColorLines.
