The London uprising continues and has in fact spread to Liverpool as well. People have had it up to here and are fighting back against the war which has been waged on them for too long. The British government says all the crap you would expect them to say, joined by media hacks talking about thugs and hooligans. Don't think they don't get it. They get it only to well and the youth on the streets are scaring the living daylight out of them. Even police power is being shown up. In the USA, the corporate media reports what the British media says and ignores the voices on the streets. The capitalist bemoan the loss of property. What a laugh. They have been stealing "property" for a few centuries now to their hearts content...and they have been stealing lives as well.
While arising now are both black and white (and I am heartened to actually see white faces under some of those hoodies), it is the black youth, African, Caribbean, who lead the way. It is they who have been the most abused by the British Empire for a long, long time. It is their homelands which have been robbed and plundered. It is they whose voices we must hear.
Well, at least for a few days, it the State's turn to quake a bit. It is the oligarchs who are forced to scurry to their holes and try to figure out what to do next. I would add as a reminder to my friends on the left whether you believe that the corporations control the state or the state now is the true master of capital, for the moment who cares. The people on the street don't need your/our theories. They don't need no parties to tell them what is in their best interest. They don't need no "condescending saviors." Those of us out here can help, can show solidarity, can spread the message of the reality of what is going on as best we can, but it is right now those folks on the streets of the shambles of the old British Empire who are leading the way. It is WE who need to learn from Them.
Someday, the next step will be taken.
