|SECRET COMMUNIST CELL PLOTTING THE DESTRUCTION OF THE USA|
How can you not enjoy an article that dares to ask the question, could Jean-Paul Sarte have been the Second Shooter in Dallas on November 22, 1963?
Yes, it is cultural Monday (or is it Philosophical Monday) and I wandered into this delightful storry of J. Edgar Hoover, Jean-Paul Sartre and, who else, but Albert Camus (or is it really Canus). Of course, anything with J. Edgar in the middle is likely to be both disgusting and crazy, since besides being the epitome of the epithet "PIG", that is what Hoover was.
This, then is a tale, of the neo-existential FBI and the two French philosophers whom J.Edgar sent his agents out to "figure out."
That the FBI had files on Sartre and Camus is, of course, no big shockeroo. The FBI had files on everybody (long before Mr. Snowden came along with his "big" revelation of big brother). It is also not unusual that Hoover took a personal interest in these guys. Mr. Hoover took a personal interest in lots of us..."guys." In this case, Hoover figured he had to find out if existentialism and absurdism were merely a front for communism. Then again, in Hoover's paranoid mind, what wasn't a front for communism. I wonder if he wondered what communism was a front for....
Anyway, what is really interesting is Andy Martin's unique perspective on the whole thing (If he were alive today, Hoover would also get to the bottom of just who this Andy Martin is and what is he up to).
So curl up in a comfortable chair and enjoy the exciting tale of the G-Men and the Philosophers.....
