IS YOUR LOCAL FORECAST A RIGHT WING IDEOLOGICAL COVERUP?
NOTE: It is time for me to try and get back in the game. I'll do my best, okay? My loss and my pain is mine and I will try to quit burdening you all with it.
So here goes.
Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything. Well, the truth is the people we all see most often talking about the weather aren't doing much talking about global climate change. TV weather forecasters for any number of stupid reasons for the most part are keeping their mouths shut about climate change. After all, it might not be good for ratings, it might be a downer from the happy banter of the Action News Team, it might all be too much for their little brains. I don't know, but a frightening amount of these people don't even believe in climate change and, why should it be different. Do you know the ideology of your local happy weather guy or gal.
And there is the fact, that most of these clowns are in the hip pocket of Global Capital anyway.
There are some who mention it from time to time, usually in a trite simple way something about climate change, but very few who tackle the subject in a substantive manner.
These weather people come into millions and millions of home every day and every night and they could add something to the conversation to DO SOMETHING to save the Earth...if only they cared...if only they weren't so blind...if only they could be serious for a minute.
Here in my town, we actually have some joker who makes jokes about climate change and if it happens to be a cold day will always say, "what ever happened to global warming," or "where is Al Gore now?"
He's an idiot and yes, siree, he is a right winger.
People like him are nothing but stooges. Not only do they not help, they actually hurt, because a lot of folks think these TV weather people are hard core scientists. A lot of people have no idea the difference between being a meteorologist and a climatologist. Getting tomorrow's forecast within three degrees hardly makes one an expert in the field of climatology, and definitely doesn't make one an activist of any kind.
Most people think they're nightly weather forecast is not a political event.
Most people are wrong.
Yet, surprisingly, it seems, that the American people would actually appreciate them giving out some real information and not just a wisecrack or two, and not some right wing ideological claptrap.
The following is from Grist.
