Linda McMahon is running for the Senate in Connecticut. She is running as a GOP outsider with a history of running a successful business. The successful business she ran is World Wrestling Entertainment. It's success includes the deaths of many of it employees...wrestlers.
Because she and her husband Vince convinced state regulators that their business was entertainment and not sport they managed to slide right by a lot of regulations. They also managed to boost their business shall we say with steroids.
Linda and her hubby have proven they don't really care what happens to their employees. Hell, they use their deaths for promotions. Right now, the widow of a World Wrestling Entertainment performer who died in a 1999 stunt is suing her company and her. The widow says the MaMahons kept using Owen Hart's image to promote the business despite agreeing to stop after his death.
When Linda was asked not too long ago about the death of wreslter and emmployee Lance Cade, who had struggled with an addiction to painkillers before being released by the company, then dying earlier this year of heart failure. She replied, "I might have met him once," McMahon insisted that the company could not be blamed for deaths of its employees outside the ring.
Lance's dad, Harley McNaught, contests , "I've been with him on two different WWE functions where she came up to him and knew him by name," McNaught told the The Day.
Furthermore, before his death, Cade gave interviews in which he alleged what basically everyone already assumes about the WWE management: that it encourages developing wrestlers to use steroids if they want to get ahead.
Salon reports, "Cade began using painkillers after an on-the-job injury, and continued wrestling through the pain because he was scared of losing his job should he take time off to heal. He died of heart failure. He was 29."
In line with all this it is to be noted that World Wrestling Entertainment considers its wrestlers "independent contractors," not actual employees, and so the very profitable corporation does not actually provide its wrestlers with health insurance..
Linda McMahon has the experience it takes to be a leader, the experience to send other people's sons and daughters to their deaths, the experience to find way around business regulations, the experience to lie, the experience to profit off the pain of others.
Linda McMahon is the perfect candidate.
