OKLAHOMA COUNTY UNDER SIEGE

LATE BREAKING, INVESTIGATIVE, ACCURATE....

This just in to the OD News Room....

Voluntary evacuations are being called for in Kingfisher County where geysers that have erupted in recent days, spewing mud and gas into the air.

Authorities asked residents near Kingfisher who small gas to voluntarily leave their homes. Kingfisher Fire Chief John Crawford says the threat of the gas igniting is "unlikely" but a bigger concern is the gas could begin coming up through water-well lines.

The geysers have appeared throughout the countryside with stretches of up to 12 miles between spots, and some as short as a quarter of a mile.

Crawford says the gas may be part of an aquifer. he says officials have checked well sites and pipelines and everything appears normal.

Areas near the geysers have been cordoned off because the origin of the gas is still unknown.
